Daily Bread
Author(s): Alan Horsfield
"We always have white bread, Mum."
"Yes," said Connie, "it's always plain, old white bread!"
Loren said, "White bread for breakfast, white bread for lunch and white bread for dinner!"
I said, "Mum, why don't you get a bread maker?"
The narrator and his sisters are tired of only ever eating white bread. They encourage Mum to buy a bread maker. At first the family is thrilled with Mum's baking. However, she begins to experiment and soon other children are making fun of their sandwiches. Now the family wants white bread again. But what will Mum make instead of bread?
Daily Bread is a full-colour chapter book part of the wonderful Gigglers series.
